Start with the art, not the pressure to buy
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want. Give yourself room to look at different work, compare styles and find out which pieces stay with you. A good art-shopping afternoon can end with a purchase, a favorite artist to follow, or simply a better understanding of what you like.
Before you pay, ask these questions
Who made this work? Ask for the artist's name and basic context about the piece.
Is it an original, a print or a reproduction? Ask how the work was produced, especially when prices differ.
What exactly is included in the price? Frames, mounting, packaging and any taxes may affect the total.
Can I get a written receipt? Ask the venue or artist to record the artwork, price and sale details.
How will I take it home? For a larger piece, discuss packaging and shipping before purchase. Costs and customs or import requirements depend on the route and destination country. Verify them with the seller and your destination-country authorities.
Places to begin looking
Contemporary galleries such as Inema Arts Center and Niyo Arts Center showcase artists and artwork in Kigali. Their current exhibitions, sale offerings and payment options should be checked with each venue directly. We do not guarantee inventory, a price or international shipping.
What your guide can help with
We can organize a practical gallery-focused afternoon, take you between confirmed stops, allow you time to browse and help structure your questions. Any purchase is your independent decision with the artist or gallery. Kigali Art Tour does not represent sellers, certify authenticity or promise shipping services.
For a longer, less rushed shopping visit, consider the $129 Curated Art Afternoon or the $249 Private Art Experience. The $69 tour is a good introduction if you are simply exploring.
